Description

Dudjom Tersar Lineage Tree/Refuge Tree of Heart Essence of the Dakini   It is out of fear of the dungeon of cyclic existence that we seek refuge. To be protected from such fear, we bring to mind the three jewels and, remembering their qualities, we experience inspiration and upliftedness.   The refuge tree of the Dudjom Tersar lineage centers on Guru Rinpoche in the form of Guru Nangsi Zilnon, the master who overpowers all that appears and exists. He is seated on a sun and moon disc on the top of a lotus. Above him sit the nine primary transmitters of the Dudjom Tersar lineage, and above them, Samantabhadra, the primordial buddha. To Guru Nangsi Zilnon’s right is the buddha of our time, Shakyamuni, and the thousand buddhas of this fortunate age. To his left, there is the sangha of eight bodhisattvas and sixteen foremost disciples. The Guru is framed by volumes of the profound dharma. Before him are the hosts of peaceful and wrathful deities, along with the dakinis, while the loyal dharma protectors keep watch.   This image is used as a support for practitioners doing ngondro, especially while going for refuge and rousing bodhicitta in conjunction with offering prostrations.
