11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PMC Community Room
Bring your young ones to learn about meditation and mindfulness on Sunday mornings! Our children's program, Bodhissatva Buddies, will be exploring traditional stories told by the Buddha called Jataka Tales through group art projects. Classes begin with a brief meditation session and have activities and games incorporating body awareness.
Parents and guardians are welcome to join in our meetings or may use the time to practice in the shrine room upstairs. Meetings are followed by social time with snacks for children and their parents/guardians until 12:30 p.m.
Ages: Children ages four years and older. They must be toilet trained and otherwise developmentally able to participate. Younger children are always welcome provided they attend with a caregiver.
Cost: Minimum donation of $50 for the series. Participants under the age of four who are accompanied by parents may participate for free.
About the program leaders: Lessons are led by Joy Muratsuchi, a long-time PMC community member, mother of two, and graduate of Naropa University with a Masters in Buddhist Studies with a Concentration of Contemplative Religion. She will be accompanied part time by Emma Harper. Emma has worked internationally, teaching English as a foreign language to learners ranging from toddlers to adults. She is currently studying Early Childhood Education with a focus on social-emotional learning, aiming to help children and their caregivers develop effective communication and regulation skills. Emma is a Vipassana meditator, yoga teacher, and active student of contemplative dance and somatic practices.
