Event Details

Centuries-old Zhi-Khro mandala, a part of the Bardo Thodol's collection, a text known in the West as The Tibetan Book of the Dead, which comprises part of a group of bardo teachings held in the Nyingma Tibetan tradition.

This coming weekend, H.E. Chhoje Tulku Rinpoche will give a series of teachings on the cycle of life, death, luminosity, and becoming, the liminal spaces of the bardo or the intermediate states. Rinpoche will help us explore the seeming solidity of our lived experience, and our fearful resistance to the process of death and dying. The bardo states give us a precious, but fleeting opportunity to embrace the reality of the situation directly. Thus, these teachings will help us understand the significance of our human bodies, meeting a qualified teacher, receiving oral instructions, and putting them into practice.

When we familiarize ourselves with the bardo states, we can develop the capacity to use these transitional moments to gain liberation. We start with a description of the process followed by instructions on what to do during that process. Putting those instructions into practice, we are able to cut through the fear and misery of dying. We can then approach what we find with stability and confidence and not miss the opportunities available in these transitional states.

We are incredibly fortunate to receive these instructions on how to practice in the bardo states from a master like H.E. Chhoje Tulku Rinpoche, who upholds the tradition of the oral lineage of these teachings. Rinpoche’s instruction will guide us to making the most of our human existence.

Chhoje Tulku Rinpoche will teach on Friday, August 21, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. MDT, and on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. MDT. Join us for the full weekend or just one session.
