Bring your young ones to learn about meditation on Sunday mornings! Our children's program, Bodhisattva Buddies, explores mindfulness and child-friendly Buddhist lessons together through activities and community practice. Parents and guardians are welcome to join in our meetings or may use the time for their practice in the shrine room upstairs. Meetings are followed by social time with snacks for children and their parents/guardians until 12:30p.m.
About this Series: This series supports children and their families in exploring Buddhist stories, art, and practices together. For this series each family will choose a Jataka tale and retell it to the group in whatever style feels right; whether storytelling, drawing, simple acting, puppets, or any other creative approach. Then we will have group activities diving into lessons within the stories.
The series is collaborative, family-centered, and grounded in Buddhist values of presence, care, and connection, supporting families and children in bringing these lessons into everyday life and real-world situations.
Ages: Children ages four years and older. They must be toilet trained and otherwise developmentally able to participate. Younger children are always welcome provided they attend with a caregiver.
Cost: Minimum suggested donation of $50 for the series of 10 classes. Participants under the age of four who are accompanied by parents may participate for free.
About the program leader: Joy Muratsuchi is a long-time PMC community member, mother of two, and graduate of Naropa University with a Masters in Buddhist Studies with a Concentration of Contemplative Religion. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions: joymuratsuchi@ gmail.com
