Event Details

PMC is  delighted to announce that it will be offering space for T’ai Chi Instruction with Faith Gregor  beginning in March 2019. We will study and practice the principles and basics of t’ai chi and learn part 1 of the Yang style, 108-movement long form. We’ll also gain insights on the symbolism and tradition and discover ways to incorporate this “moving meditation” in other aspects of daily life. This 10 week long program, beginning March 10th - May 15th  is open to the public; please join us! Time/Day: Sundays, 8:45-9:45 a.m. in the downstairs studio at PMC Fee: $100 for the 10-week session, or $12 for individual lessons. As we are studying a sequence of movements, it is recommended that students attend as many sessions as possible. Please plan to pay with check or cash at the start of the series or at each lesson. Online payments are not available at this time. Prerequisites: None.  For those who are brand new to t’ai chi, this is an activity for all levels and abilities. If you wish, you can use a chair for stability/rest, and movements can be modified. Just let the instructor know your needs before class. What to Wear: Wear clothes that do not restrict your movement. Bare feet, socks, martial arts shoes, sneakers or athletic shoes are all OK. No sandals, flip-flops or Crocs, please.  In general, the more you can be aware of your whole foot on the surface below you, the better. On Sunday, March 3 from 9:00 to 9:45, come to a free intro/orientation session to get a taste of the activity and a preview of the program ahead! If you have questions or need more details, email gregorf@comcast.net. About the Instructor Faith Gregor has been a member of Padmasambhava Meditation Center since 2015. She has studied t’ai chi since 1999 with Maedée Dupres, internationally renowned t’ai chi instructor, dancer and choreographer.  She received instructor training and certification from Maedée at Open Wings T’ai Chi Studio in 2006.  She has taught classes and workshops in the Denver area since then and is an American T’ai Chi and Qi Gong Association certified Level II instructor. Faith’s teaching style is informed by her belief that t’ai chi can benefit any program of movement for any ability and goal. This includes injury recovery and prevention, mitigating the challenges of chronic conditions and the aging process, adding variety to an existing exercise program, enhancing the mind/body connection, connecting with the origins and traditions of the practice, and tuning in to the pure joy of movement. She teaches the Yang style, which is widely practiced in China and originated in the 1300s.  She is proud to be directly connected with the lineage of Yang Cheng-fu and Choy Hawk-Pang, who brought Yang style t’ai chi to the United States in the  1950s. Faith honors the form’s rich tradition and symbolism while carefully and patiently teaching its moves and sequences. She also strives to help students improve their balance, strength and  flexibility.
